Spring sure seems like an odd time to do a review on a winter jacket doesn't it?

I do have a strategy here!  Although harder to do as children grow older; coming right off any particular season is a GREAT time to look for bargains you can purchase for the next year.

If you run across this jacket - you are TOTALLY in luck!  Pictured above is a boy's captain jacket by Obermeyer (NOT the ice cream) Ski Apparel.  Online it retails anywhere between $100- $130.  Pricey right?  I didn't pay that for mine!

Not only is this jacket durable, stylish and loaded with any feature you could possibly want to keep your little ones safe AND warm for any outdoor activity - it has a feature that is worth it's weight in gold!  The exclusive I-Grow feature.  What that means is these children's jackets are built to last and grow with your child.  By pulling the specially made seam in the sleeve of a jacket or the cuff of a snow pant - you get another 1.5 - 2"!  How awesome is that!

We are in our second season with this Obermeyer and looking forward to next winter.  The jacket still looks absolutely brand new and I haven't even used the I Grow yet!  I'm so thrilled with this quality that even if I had not found a bargain, I may still have paid the full retail.

DR. FRESH KIDS LIGHTUP FIREFLY TIMER TOOTHBRUSH

Found this awesome little helper at Target today ( $1.19).  Helps teach kids the proper brushing time!  Comes in various styles, I bought the one shown above ("original").  Press the end of the brush and it lights up for one minute.  Brush one minute on top and one minute on the bottom.  Sure beats setting the timer!

So cute!  Perfect size, comfortable handle and soft bristles.  Baby BM couldn't WAIT to get his paws on this thing!  Bwahahaha - as planned my pretty!    Get one!

As many of you know we spent our New Year's Day at the movies!  Sherlock Holmes is a Guy Ritchie film starring Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law and Rachel McAdams (PG13 - 128 mins).  Although I know the name, I'm not a Sherlock Holmes fan or follower. I had to do my research.    Sherlock Holmes is a fictional character of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries who first appeared in publication in 1888.  

The trailers are amazing and they did their job!  WE bought tickets!  The movie is an action /adventure with mystery woven in.  Because I am not a follower of the legendary detective, it took me a few scenes to fall in line.  Robert Downey Jr...... (ladies, ...need I say more ) - AMAZING.  He is really an awesome actor and I've never seen bad work from him.  Jude Law is charming and their chemistry was great. 

After reading more about the making of this film and now having seen it - I can see what was meant in reports about the editing.  I felt like they were trying to cram everything in as fast as possible and for me the real story line came late in the film.  It moves fast so pay attention!  Once they got it together it was interesting.  Lots of intense scenes, violence and action.  A few quirky comedic moments.

I would describe it as a swashbuckler - very pirates of the caribbeanesque.  Since I only have two thumbs, I give it one!  I'm glad I saw it but I probably won't see it again.  I would LOVE to hear what you think of the film!  Leave a comment below.

Pier1Imports Fragrance Beads

I love me some Pier1Imports!  I made a quick stop last weekend to pick up some house fragrance.  For anyone who has been inside Pier1Imports the fragrance that hits you is intoxicating!   I was looking to replicate a slightly less pungent version.

I saw these fragrance gel beads, and the little red tag sealed the deal!  I picked up the gourmet apple pie and cleaned them out so that I could stock up for winter.  Up close and personal, they smell awesome.  However, it's been almost a week now and I feel VERY disappointed!  I have four strategically placed throughout the house and you can't tell one iota that they even exist! 

I called my local Pier1Imports store today to see if there was a trick I wasn't aware of.  The young man advised me to place one in a smaller powder room and give it another few days!  DUH!  I already did that!  Clearly they are NOT working!   Big sad fail!!  I might have to return them to the store- seeing as how I bought about ten!  No more gel beads for me!
